Have you ever heard of it?
In my work,
I portrayed how, in ancient times, people saw “gods” as beings much closer to their everyday lives than we do today.
And one practice that was carried out in many parts of the world was—
“Human sacrifice.”
When a natural disaster occurred, people would think:
“Could it be that the gods are angry?”
“Do we need to offer something to protect our village?”
And so they would—
Offer people or objects to the gods in order to protect the village from natural disasters.
Such practices were, in fact, carried out.
Of course, from our modern perspective,
“What's the point of doing something like that?”
you might think.
But then—
Was human sacrifice really completely meaningless?
This time, I’d like to examine the culture of “human sacrifice.”
Personally,
I actually think that what they were trying to do may not have been entirely wrong.
However—
“Just a little.”
So, what else was wrong?
