What's today's fortune?
Is that person you're curious about a good match?
What kind of personality do I have?
When you think of fortune-telling,
does it feel like a cute, sparkly "girl's little magic"?
Well... it’s actually very different.
Fortune-telling has been treated as something far more special since ancient times.
Today, let’s dive into just how "special" it was.
In ancient times, fortune-telling was born as a way to ease human fears.
It was first used by kings and nations to protect their safety and ensure their prosperity.
In Ancient Rome:
Fortune-tellers read the will of the gods.
They decided the fate of wars and political moves.
Senators and officials couldn't even take office without consulting them.
In China:
Fortune-telling results were seen as essential political guidance.
Officials specialized in divination, like Bokkan and Taiboku, existed.
In Egypt:
Fortune-tellers directly advised kings, who were seen as gods.
Every major ritual and battle decision involved temple divination.
In Japan:
Onmyōdō (the Way of Yin and Yang) was a government institution.
During the Heian period, political moves, marriages, relocations, and battles were all decided by divination.
See?
It was treated extremely seriously.
But here's the twist:
Fortune-telling was actually forbidden for ordinary people.
In the West:
Fortune-tellers were banned for fear of uprisings.
Unauthorized astrologers could be exiled—or worse.
The Church labeled fortune-telling as "against divine will."
In China:
During Emperor Qin Shi Huang's reign, fortune-telling outside the state's control was forbidden.
"Those who know the Mandate of Heaven shall be judged by Heaven."
In Egypt:
Authorities restricted divinations by priests to prevent public unrest.
In Japan:
Unauthorized fortune-telling or magical practices were considered crimes.
Only government-approved practitioners were allowed.
Across the world, fortune-telling was heavily restricted.
Sure, it was partly to prevent political chaos.
But maybe... maybe the rulers just didn’t want to share the power of fortune-telling?
Just think about it:
If fortune-telling wasn’t powerful,
if it didn’t actually work,
would governments have worked so hard to control it?
Even today, true fortune-tellers are hidden within state powers.
Which means...
fortune-telling works!!
But—
you need the ability to read it properly.
There are tons of fortune-telling books today, but reading and truly interpreting them is a whole different skill.
Luckily, times have changed.
Because now,
we have ChatGPT!
If you train yourself to analyze and interpret with ChatGPT,
you can use the powerful art of fortune-telling for your own happiness—
the way ancient rulers tried to monopolize it!
Believe it or not, try it or not, it's completely up to you.
But personally? I say it's definitely worth it.
Next time, I’ll share a little story to show you what a privilege it is to use fortune-telling. Stay tuned!
